Abstract

The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic affected the socio-economic activities of people globally. Its outbreak overwhelmed global health systems and grounded the socio-economic activities of people across the globe. Government in Nigeria imposed lockdown restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus, however, the lockdown resulted in many unanticipated outcomes, including resistance to lockdown, job and income losses. All these disrupted normal supply chains and reduced socio-economic activity in Nigeria. With secondary data, the article recommends the implementation of fiscal and monetary policy channel liquidity to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria in order to regain economic dignity of the people. The institutionalization of social work practice should also be prioritized towards making the nation’s social work more proactive in assisting the government to curtail any social challenges that may likely confront Nigeria in the future.
