Abstract

This paper investigated library facilities and academic productivity of junior secondary school students in obafemi owode local government area, ogun state. This research used the descriptive survey research design. The population of this study comprised of 840 student from eight selected public urban and rural junior secondary schools in obafemi-owode local government area, Ogun State Nigeria. A sample size of 168 students was selected through the stratified random sampling technique of 20%. Instrument used for data collection was a 24-item questionnaire titledLibrary facilities and academic productivity of junior secondary school students questionnaire” (LFAPQ) was used for data collection while students mock examination grade score was used to test foe their academic productivity. Three hypotheses were formulated and tested by means of simple linear regression analysis at the .05 level of significance. Results revealed significant influence of the library facilities on academic productivity.  The result of the findings revealed that there is a significant influence between school library on students’ academic productivity of students: library facilities (beta = .312, t = 11.673, p < .05), it was subsequently recommended, that schools, both rural and urban, should be provided with school library, which should be equipped with library resources that are relevant at the level of that school in the school premises that it is operating.
