Abstract
This study explored the influence of farmers’ exposure to the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria’s communication strategies on the uptake of agricultural technologies in the South-West, Nigeria. The study used a case study design, involving 70 farmers across the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria’s adopted villages in Oyo state. Total enumeration sampling and snowball sampling approaches were used to determine the sample size. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire. The findings revealed that farmers were generally exposed to CRIN’s communication strategies, which were deployed to disseminate agricultural technology information (x̅ = 3.19), and as a result, there was a high utilization of the offered technology. The study concluded that farmers’ exposure to communication strategies had a significant influence on their uptake of agricultural technologies (Adj. R² = 0.203, F(6, 38) = 2.873). It therefore recommends a deliberate exposure of farmers to extension communication strategies to improve the uptake of agricultural technologies.
