Abstract

Language Education (LE) and Global Citizenship Education (GCE) have become critical components in the 21st century for the development of nations worldwide, and Nigeria is not left behind in this quest for progress. In a rapidly globalizing world, where the interdependence of nations is becoming increasingly evident, language education and global citizenship education are necessary tools for ensuring sustainable national development. Nigeria, with its diverse linguistic and cultural heritage, needs to harness the potential of language and global citizenship education to achieve its developmental goals.

Despite numerous efforts made by the government, Nigeria still struggles with underdevelopment in many segments of the economy. In recent years, the importance of language and global citizenship education has been increasingly recognized as key drivers of development in many countries. However, in Nigeria, there is a lack of research on the impact of both concepts on national development. This has led to a gap in understanding how language and global citizenship education can serve as catalysts for national development in Nigeria.
