About BJMC

Babcock Journal of Mass Communication (BJMC) is a peer-reviewed academic journal of the Department of Mass Communication, Babcock University. The journal provides a platform for scholarly engagement on contemporary issues affecting communication in Africa and globally.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Babcock Journal of Mass Communication is to advance scholarly research and critical discourse in journalism, broadcasting, public relations, advertising, digital media, and development communication. The journal seeks to provide a credible platform for high-quality, peer-reviewed research that addresses contemporary media issues within Nigeria, Africa, and the global communication environment, while promoting ethical standards, innovation, and interdisciplinary scholarship.

To become a leading African journal of mass communication recognized globally for excellence in research, ethical integrity, intellectual depth, and meaningful contributions to media scholarship and professional practice.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Submissions are welcome in, but not limited to, the following areas: Journalism and News Reporting, Broadcasting and Film, Publishing, Digital Media, and New Media Technologies, Development Communication, Public Relations and Advertising, Political Communication, Media Ethics and Law, Communication Education, Social Media and Society, Media and Gender Studies, Media and Sustainable Development.


Authors seeking to submit papers for publication consideration should take note of the following:

1. Articles should be in a Microsoft Word Document between 5,000 and 7,000 words, including references. There should be consistency in language use (American or British English).

2. All submissions must follow the APA referencing style (7th edition). References should be cited in the text and listed alphabetically in the reference section at the end of the article. Any paper with this defect would be rejected.

3. Manuscripts should be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing.

4. An abstract of not more than 250 words with 5-7 keywords must accompany each submission. 

5. Author's details should appear ONLY on the cover page and nowhere else in the article. The Cover page must include the title of the article, the names of the author(s) (SURNAME first), and contact details (Institutional affiliation, email address, and telephone number). THE COVER PAGE SHOULD BE MAILED SEPARATELY.

6. Tables and Figures (illustrations, diagrams, etc.) should be properly captioned and inserted at the appropriate places in the body of the article. Maximum of 3 tables/figures.

7. Publication fees are charged only after an article has been accepted for publication. However, authors submitting an article for publication consideration are required to pay an assessment fee of N10, 000. Publication fee for author(s) is N30, 000.

8. Articles submitted for publication will go through three stages of review, namely: Desk review, anti-plagiarism checks, and blind peer review.

9. Responsibility for obtaining copyright permissions on any illustrations, diagrams, texts, etc., in an accepted article, is strictly that of the author(s). 

10. Manuscripts should be submitted as an attachment in Microsoft format and mailed to bjmc@babcock.edu.ng.  

11. Payment should be made to BABCOCK MICROFINANCE BANK (BMFB), BABCOCK JOURNAL OF MASS COMMUNICATION 1100073598.
