Abstract
This study investigates the effect of wellness programme components on employee commitment in selected hospitality firms in Lagos State, Nigeria. The hospitality industry is vital for economic growth but suffers from low employee commitment, leading to decreased productivity and high turnover rates. This research utilizes a quantitative approach, employing structured questionnaires distributed among 411 employees across 11 hospitality firms. The findings reveal that flexible work arrangements significantly enhance employee commitment (β = 0.128, p < 0.05), while other components, including workplace spirituality, financial wellness, mental wellness, and employee assistance programmes, show positive but statistically insignificant effects. The overall model indicates a moderate positive relationship, with approximately 18.6% of the variance in employee commitment explained by the wellness programme components. Recommendations for hospitality firms include prioritizing flexible work arrangements as a core strategy to boost employee commitment and integrating wellness initiatives into broader organizational goals. This study underscores the necessity of tailored wellness programmes that resonate with employee needs to foster a more committed workforce, ultimately enhancing organizational performance in Nigeria's hospitality sector.
