Abstract

Entrepreneurship education has been made a compulsory course by the federal government since 2007 in all Nigeria's higher institutions for graduates to be selfempowered with a view to tackling the problem of unemployment in Nigeria. In spite of this, graduates are still in search of job and are unwilling to take up entrepreneurship activities. It indicates that, to be a practicing entrepreneur is not just about acquiring the skill but much more on the intention of the individual. However, the debate on the factors influencing entrepreneurial intention is still on-going among researchers in Nigeria. Thus, this study seeks to examine the effect of dimensions of personality traits as key determinant of entrepreneurial intention among undergraduate students in Lagos State. Asample size of 882 was used and data was analysed using multiple linear regression. The findings revealed that personality traits have significant effect on entrepreneurial intention (F (11,795) = 34.69; R2 = 0.324, p < 0.05). The study recommends that University authorities should take proactive measures to build up the personality traits of the students to enhance their entrepreneurial intention thus making entrepreneurship education more effective.
