J. A. Atanda Lectures and Conference is a unique event that brings together hundreds of scholars from every continent in the world for a celebration of studies of Africa and in particular Yoruba cultural studies, inspired by the ground-breaking scholarly contributions of the honouree, Late Professor Joseph Adebowale Atanda (2 January 1932 – 6 December 1996) whose primary area of research interest was African History, specializing in Nigeria with emphasis on Yorubaland in Western Nigeria and Buganda in East Africa.
