Abstract

Humanity is yet to fully comprehend the impact of the Fourth
Industrial Revolution (4IR) on the activities of man as it
continues to evolve. While the use of enhanced technology
appears to be more pronounced in some areas like the
manufacturing and healthcare sectors; the government and
institutions of government are also being reformed. This
study focused on the impact of the fourth industrial revolution
(4IR) on public service delivery in Africa and the future it
holds using the explanatory research design. The paper
brought to the fore that the public sector in Africa is not an
isolated world and therefore has to embrace technology like
its counterparts in the developed nations and the Private
sector. It beamed light on some of the challenges such as poor
infrastructures, poor work culture of ineptitude, limited ICT
skills and apathy towards technology. It discussed the way
forward and concluded that immense opportunities abound in
4IR for the continent; that the fourth industrial revolution will
predictably affect public service delivery positively.
